About

Meet Krish, your orthoptist

Hi, I'm Krish. I believe vision is about much more than seeing clearly. It's about how we move, learn, communicate and take part in everyday life.

I provide mobile functional vision assessment and support for children and adults, in the places where life actually happens.

What is an orthoptist?

Orthoptists are university-trained allied health professionals who specialise in assessing vision, eye movements and how the eyes work together.

How I got here

I have over eight years of experience helping people make the most of their vision. After training at La Trobe University, I've worked across Melbourne, Adelaide and now Brisbane, in a range of clinical settings.

Early in my career, I focused on assessing and treating specific visual symptoms in clinics. Over time, I realised that the biggest challenges my clients faced often weren't explained by an eye chart alone. Understanding how someone uses their vision in the real world is just as important as measuring how well they see.

That realisation shaped the way I practise today.

I don't claim to know what every family is carrying. What I can do is listen, take the time to understand what matters to you, and make the process collaborative, practical and manageable.

How I work

Real life, not just the clinic

Vision is used in real places: at home, at work and out in the community. That's where we learn the most about what helps.

Families as partners

Some of the best ideas start with a favourite toy, a family pet or an everyday routine.

Collaborative care

I work alongside your therapists, support workers and other professionals, so that goals are aligned.

Seeing begins in the brain. And because every brain is different, every person's visual experience is different too.

Ongoing learning

Vision, communication and regulation are closely connected, so I'm continuing to build my skills in these areas, including:

  • PODD (Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display) alternative access workshops

  • Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation (RAMSR)

Outside of work

I'm a mum to two young kids. I love to paint, and I'm always starting DIY craft projects around the house that I never quite finish, much to my husband's frustration. I'm also trying, with mixed success, to keep my plants alive.

Not sure where to start?

For children, our vision screening questionnaire is a helpful first step. Or simply get in touch to talk it through. No formal referral needed. Families, adults and professionals are all welcome.
